FabLab 101 is a foundational safety and operations course designed to prepare students for successful and responsible work inside the fabrication lab. This course teaches students how to navigate the FabLab environment safely, follow proper procedures, use appropriate PPE, and manage tools and materials responsibly.
Introduction to 3D Printing teaches students the fundamentals of additive manufacturing and empowers them to turn digital models into real, physical objects. Students will explore the full workflow of 3D printing—designing, slicing, preparing, and fabricating parts—while learning how to operate printers safely and responsibly within the FabLab.
Prerequisite: FabLab 101
Introduction to Laser Engraving and Cutting is a hands‑on course that teaches students how to transform digital designs into precise, professional‑quality physical creations using laser technology. Students will learn the fundamentals of vector design, machine operation, material selection, and fabrication safety.
Prerequisite: FabLab 101
Introduction to Woodworking teaches students the fundamentals of working safely and effectively with wood and stationary shop tools. This class focuses on essential shop practices, proper tool handling, measurement skills, and material selection—providing a strong foundation for students entering fabrication or engineering.
Prerequisite: FabLab 101
Introduction to Stationary Tools is a hands‑on course designed to teach students how to safely and confidently operate the core woodworking and fabrication machines found in the FabLab. These large, fixed‑position tools are essential for precise cutting, shaping, drilling, and sanding—and mastering them opens the door to advanced making and engineering projects.
Prerequisites: FabLab 101, Introduction to Woodworking, Introduction to Laser Engraving and Cutting, Introduction to 3D Printing.
